While you, like my CPA, probably think Sad Face Farm is a TERRIBLE name for a business, it has a foundation in the faces of a few of our "starter" farm members.
Krista, owner/operator was living in the city (sad face). Basset hounds Abby, Gertrude, and Tula lived in the city as well (really sad faces). The farm turned all those frowns upside down as confinement became freedom and everyone thrived.
Krista invited other Sad Faces. Bill and Mary, retired from work in the fields, having bounced from auction to auction, appeared on petfinder, pleading with Krista to turn their sad faces into smiles. Done.
Luna and Fonzy, aged giants living out life in a tiny city yard, found their way to the farm, immediately claiming the land as their own, warding off any would-be repair men, postal workers, and all-around-good-for-nothings who may wander down our path.
Since the beginning, Sad Face Farm Therapy has removed the Sad Faces of many creatures -- family and friends, from human to peacock, horse, hound, fowl and feline.
In the breeding realm, our broodmares come from varied backgrounds and registries, sporting performance bloodlines and often performance records of their own. Their lovely temperaments consistently pass to their offspring, resulting in easy-going youngsters.
Our young horses are handled daily, receive routine veterinary, dental and farrier service, and travel locally and over night to shows, getting used to chaos and commotion and starting their ribbon collections.
While the Sad Face youngsters frequent dressage venues, their bloodlines lend them toward a variety of disciplines and we hope to see them competing across the spectrum in the coming years.
Generally laid back and easy going, we host a variety of personalities and encourage your questions in effort to match our youngsters with the right homes. Enjoy our antics -- and embrace the Sad Face Spirit-- as you peruse our page.
